Alisa has been an instructor at the College of San Mateo and ran the jazz station, KCSM, for over 30 years. We’ll learn about the lives of three prominent women in jazz in the 1950‘s: Marian McPartland, Mary Lou Williams and Maxine Sullivan, who were the only three women recognized in the 1958 Great Day in Harlem photograph by Art Kane. These women’s stories will be explored as we listen to the music they created.
