SamTrans will be hosting a series of technology trainings aimed at helping seniors participate in online public meetings. Because of the pandemic, most, if not all, public meetings are hosted on Zoom. At SamTrans, we recognize that seniors and other might need help to participate in these online meetings, so we’ve developed a technology training class. SamTrans is not only hosting training on how to use Zoom, but will also have a training on smartphones and transit trip planning in the future.
The trainings will be in the morning (9:30am to 11:00am) and will cover Zoom basics, such as:
1. How to join a meeting
2. Understanding the meeting controls (microphone, video, and sound set-up)
3. How to use Zoom on mobile devices
4. Using the poll feature to provide feedback
5. How to create/start a meeting
6. Other custom Zoom settings
There will also be a step by step guide sent out to the participants before the actual training date to ensure proper set-up. The training will be recorded and distributed to the participants so that they can refer to it in the future. If technical assistance is needed, the interested participants can contact me (contact information listed below).
The only requirements are the senior must have internet access and a device that is able to access the internet and download the required program (Zoom).
