A nationwide trend coming to the Coastside
Older adults are more independent, aspirational and likely to live longer than any previous generation. How we retire and what we anticipate to fulfill our dreams will be very different than our parent’s generation.
Rising out of these aspirations is the “Village” movement, a national and local San Mateo and Bay Area community concept that successfully supports aging-in-place. In big cities, in suburban areas and increasingly in rural settings, Villages offer an appealing alternative to the late-in-life disruption most of us fear.
With support from the national Village to Village Network, Senior Coastsiders (our fiscal sponsor), the Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Half Moon Bay Library, Parks and Rec, and other community organizations, Village of the Coastside launched in October 2016 and looks forward to many more years.
